Canada's immigration system is undergoing significant change. Shifting labour market priorities, tightening program integrity measures, and changing business immigration pathways are reshaping how entrepreneurs and investors approach entry into the Canadian market.
On May 27–29, 2026, CBGA was proud to support the 21st National Citizenship and Immigration Conference (NCIC 2026) as an official sponsor. Organized by the Canadian Association of Professional Immigration Consultants (CAPIC) in Mississauga, Ontario, the conference brought together immigration professionals, government officials, legal professionals, and industry leaders for two days of conversation on the trends shaping Canada's immigration system.
Sessions addressed a wide range of topics, including the growing role of AI and automation in application triage and assessment at IRCC, the future of Express Entry and category-based selection, provincial nominee programs such as OINP, labour market pressures and ESDC priorities, enforcement trends at ports of entry, and the implications of Bill C-12 for immigration practice. Featured speakers included senior government officials such as Ted Gallivan (IRCC), Vernon Von Finckenstein (IRCC), and Sinead Tuite (ESDC).
Several sessions highlighted the growing importance of regional and provincial immigration pathways. As applications under the federal Start-Up Visa program remain suspended, Entrepreneur streams within Provincial Nominee Programs have become one of the primary business immigration options available to foreign entrepreneurs. The conference provided valuable insight into how these programs are adapting to regional labour market needs and economic development objectives. CEO of CBGA, Fedor Belomoev, participated in conversations on economic immigration and the regional opportunities influencing business immigration strategy.

Among the highlights of the event was the opportunity to meet with CAPIC CEO Dory Jade, whose leadership has played an important role in strengthening professional standards within Canada's immigration consulting sector. Our team was pleased to speak with Mr. Jade about current industry challenges, recent regulatory developments, and emerging opportunities in Canada's business and economic immigration landscape.

As immigration policies continue to adapt to economic and labour market realities, events such as CAPIC NCIC provide an important platform for dialogue between policymakers, practitioners, and industry leaders.
Throughout the conference, CEO of CBGA, Fedor Belomoev, connected with immigration professionals and government representatives to exchange perspectives on the evolving immigration landscape and the opportunities available to entrepreneurs looking to establish and grow businesses in Canada.
CBGA was proud to sponsor and participate in CAPIC NCIC 2026 and remains committed to helping entrepreneurs and businesses navigate Canada's evolving immigration landscape.
