In May 2024, CBGA participated as a sponsor in the Canadian Bar Association’s Immigration Law Conference held in Montreal from May 9–11. The conference theme, “Decrypting Immigration and Refugee Law: Technology, Policy, Process,” focused on the interaction between regulatory frameworks, technological developments, and procedural standards in immigration and refugee law.
The CBA’s largest in-person immigration conference brought together lawyers, judges, and public sector representatives to examine current and emerging issues across immigration, refugee, and citizenship law. Fedor Belomoev represented CBGA during the event.
The three-day program addressed technological advancements in immigration processing, policy developments, and structural shifts in administrative practice. Sessions included analysis of Federal Court decisions, updates related to LMIAs, refugee litigation, port-of-entry procedures, and other operational developments shaping Canada’s immigration system.
As part of its participation, CBGA engaged with legal professionals on matters related to business immigration structuring, regulatory documentation, IRCC peer review processes, and progress reporting practices. The discussions reflected increasing emphasis on compliance precision, documentation standards, and performance-based assessment mechanisms within entrepreneur and innovation-driven pathways.
The conference also included structured networking events such as a welcome reception, Young Lawyers Social, and a Gala dinner, providing opportunities for professional dialogue and exchange within the immigration law community.
CBGA continues to focus on refining application structuring and regulatory alignment in business immigration matters, including pathways such as the Start-Up Visa program. Participation in the CBA Immigration Law Conference forms part of the company’s broader institutional engagement with Canada’s legal and regulatory ecosystem.
